Each year, clubs completing the criteria required for annual awards are awarded with a patch at their KiwanisONE Divisional meeting in the spring. Patches are awarded to clubs who submit the required paperwork to the district office.
Club Awards
Distinguished Club Award
Clubs that meet the Kiwanis International Distinguished Club requirements will be awarded with a patch, a certificate, and a pin for distinguished president and secretary.
Governor’s Membership Trophy
The Governor’s Membership Trophy is awarded to clubs achieving a +5 or more net increase in membership for the year.
Round Robin Interclub Award
Clubs are encouraged to visit other clubs in their division, around the state, around the world, and with Student Leadership Programs (SLP’s). Upon completion of the Round Robin form, clubs can achieve a patch for completing 1-4 rounds of interclubs.
Salvation Army Participation Award
Clubs that ring bells each Holiday Season for the Salvation Army are awarded with a participation patch from the Salvation Army. Forms must be submitted to the Human & Spiritual Values Chair and the District Office to receive the club patch.
Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation Club Participation
Clubs that support the Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation annual donation meeting their club goal are awarded with a patch.
Children’s Miracle Network Participation
Clubs that support the Children’s Miracle Network are awarded with a patch upon submission of the participation form.
Individual Awards
Legion of Honor Award
Honor members who have served in Kiwanis for 25 years or more with the Legion of Honor award. They deserve recognition for helping to make Kiwanis the great organization it is today. Certificates signed by the Kiwanis International president and executive director, as well as lapel pins that reflect the highest office held by the honoree, are available for presentation. Purchase Legion of Honor award material from the Kiwanis Family Store. Please provide the recipient’s name, the number of years he or she has been a Kiwanian and the highest club office he or she has held.
Ruby K Award
This award is awarded to Kiwanians who sponsor five or more new members during their Kiwanis career. The Ruby K award is free of charge. Ruby K pins recognize members for inviting new members — from five to 100 people. (Further Ruby K awards are given for multiples of 25 over 100.) The award is cumulative, so previous recipients are eligible for a new Ruby K when they invite additional members. Submit an application.
Kiwanis International Life Membership Award
Thank a member who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to The Objects of Kiwanis and the mission of Kiwanis International with life member status. A gold-tone membership card, desktop award, distinctive lapel pin and lifelong exemption from Kiwanis International dues are some of the ways life members are honored. Submit an application.
Michigan District Life Membership Award
Thank a member who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to The Objects of Kiwanis and the mission of the Michigan District of Kiwanis and Kiwanis International with life member status. Submit an application.
The Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation has many awards that provide members the opportunity to acknowledge another Kiwanian’s generous service to the community as well as help fund the work of our Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation in support of hospitalized children. The Foundation Trustees encourage you to reward your Club Members with a Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation Award!
This is the highest award presented by the Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation. This gift can be presented by a Kiwanis club or Kiwanis group to honor any other Kiwanis member. The recipient of the award must be recommended by at least 10 Kiwanis members with an article explaining his or her achievements in Kiwanis. This write up with a photograph (5×7) is placed in the book of honor. The book is on permanent display in the District Office. The recipient also receives a personal plaque and tie tac/lapel pin.
J. Douglas Alexander Award
The recipient can be recognized by a club, an individual or one can purchase this award themselves. The award can be given to those who are not Kiwanis members. The recipient will receive a plaque and a medallion for the gift. A brass plate will be placed on the permanent plaque in the District office. This award was created to honor J. Douglas Alexander, Past District Secretary of 16 years who was very instrumental in expanding the goals of the District and The Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation even further.
Tablet of Honor Award
This award is available to any Kiwanis member or community member for their service in support of the mission of Kiwanis both locally and internationally. The recipient is recognized with a plaque. This award also has a brass plate with the recipient name on permanent display at the District office.
Pacesetter Award
This award was created to recognize an individual for their efforts toward Kiwanis. The award can also be purchased by a club or by an individual. A plaque is engraved with the recipient’s name and spaces are provided at the bottom where small brass plates can be affixed for each and every year that $250.00 is donated for this person. The plates are provided by the Foundation after each donation.
Al Dailey Award
The Foundation’s newest award, the Al Dailey Award was created in memory of Al Dailey, Past District Secretary. The recipient receives a pin and a certificate.
